New Business Spirit: Purpose of the Moment

Every living being has a purpose, and it is the knowledge of that purpose that allows us to manifest the opportunities in the right place at the right time. Conversely, without knowledge of our specific purpose many of these opportunities will go unnoticed.

In our modern world fortunes are regularly spent on changing and improving methodologies, yet the majority of businesses continue to last less than one generation, and the majority of working people retire disillusioned and unfulfilled. Usually their enormous energy and potential is misdirected. Having an external objective is not the same as living a purpose that is internally driven.

Striving is futile if those energies available for our growth are working against us. As the proverb wisely goes, that is like running faster down the wrong road. When we are uncertain of our purpose we will be unable to recognise the direction that is right for us. Moreover, there can be no control over our destination if we are unable to recognise it for what it is when we arrive. When we are not .in command of our own direction we will be distracted and go elsewhere. Our directions and arrivals relate to the processes and results we experience in our lives, and we only have the ability to control the processes. Once again, although the way in which we control our processes may ultimately in’ fluence our outcome, we do not have control over our results.

    First Step Marketing

Whatever our purpose, it can be understood by studying the five inclinations everyone has hidden within the depths of their heart. Being absorbed in the way of the world, many do not take the time to decide what their purpose is, but at the same time there is a continual inclination towards it. These inclinations are as follows.

    Desire of knowledge

Every child wants to know the reason `why?’ In time, the adult comes to believe, however, that work to earn one’s bread and butter is the natural successor to education. We learn to get by and later strive in our work to get on until, without ever a moment to gain it, the hunger for knowledge is gone andthe mind becomes blunted. Others, who do have time, tend to seek novelty. They think that to learn means to get to know something new.

Few of these will see that in every idea, however simple, is a revelation which will teach them more and more when they put their minds to it. Continuing to gain knowledge of what you are about, by understanding yourself and what motivates you, should be a part of daily life. In this way you are attracted to what is right for you to do.

    Love of Life

This is as important to human beings as it is to every little insect that tries to escape your touch. However difficult and unhappy their life, every being wishes to live. Perhaps in the sadness of the moment a person might choose to commit suicide, but if he or she were in their normal state of mind they would not think of leaving the world. Not necessarily because the world is dear to them, but because their natural inclination is to survive.

    Gaining of Power

In any situation power is sought because nature seems to sweep away anything that has no strength. The mistake we make is in the areas we choose to seek our strength. Power and control gained outside of ourselves over people and things can only remain limited. History illustrates how even the most powerful nations, built over hundreds of years, can be crushed in a very short time; individuals who seem to be all-powerful can be brought to their knees in an unforeseen moment. The real power we should seek is power over ourself.

    Pursuit of Happiness

This is at the very heart of Man, although he seldom looks for it there. It is sought in leisure and pleasure, anything that will bring momentary happiness. The reality is that only virtue can bring real happiness. Anything that is transitory or which ultimately leads to unhappiness cannot be true happiness. Goodness leads to happiness. What is good is good, because it gives happiness, and if it does not do so it cannot be good, or right, or of virtue. Whenever Man has found virtue in unhappiness he has been mistaken; whenever he was wrong he was unhappy. Happiness is the very being of mind, and at any one moment Man knows how to’ question any source of unhappiness, though seldom seeks the answer of himself.
