Choosing your business, what Don’t You Want to Do?
Think about the last job you had that you really hated. Didn’t you start to resent getting out of bed every morning, knowing you were not going to enjoy yourself for at least the next eight hours of your day?
Now think about not only slaving away at that job but also assuming responsibility for every facet of it, from worrying about exceeding your budget to having to forego receiving your paycheck every so often because a customer decided to not pay a bill on time. Now how would you feel about your job?

Welcome to the life of an entrepreneur who selected the wrong business to start! Sure, you want to be your own boss, and reading stories about successful business owners who drive brand- new Mercedes and live in big expensive houses certainly makes running your own business sound appealing. But think about this: not only did famous entrepreneurs like Bill Gates and Ben and Jerry get to where they are today with plenty of hard work and long hours, but they also loved what they were doing. They had to; otherwise they wouldn’t have invested so much of themselves into the company. They didn’t start by paying a mail-order firm several hundred bucks for a kit to start a “can’t miss” business they read about in an ad in the back of a magazine; they recognized a market that needed a product or service they could provide with their talents and hard work.
In order to succeed in your own business, you must take the same path that these entrepreneurial pioneers traveled. There’s simply no other way. And there is nothing you could do professionally that will give you more enjoyment or satisfaction than starting and running your own business. So, now is the time to be painfully honest about your dreams, beliefs, and goals for your business and personal life, before you sink thousands of dollars and countless hours of work into a business that isn’t right for you from the start.
