New Business Spirit: Purpose of the Moment

June 23, 2008

Every living being has a purpose, and it is the knowledge of that purpose that allows us to manifest the opportunities in the right place at the right time. Conversely, without knowledge of our specific purpose many of these opportunities will go unnoticed.

In our modern world fortunes are regularly spent on changing and improving methodologies, yet the majority of businesses continue to last less than one generation, and the majority of working people retire disillusioned and unfulfilled. Usually their enormous energy and potential is misdirected. Having an external objective is not the same as living a purpose that is internally driven. Read the rest of this entry »

Secret of Business Spirit: Acceptance of the Moment

June 23, 2008

Empress Ni allowed her natural charitable emotions to be swept aside because of emotions belonging to, and residing in, the past. In losing her present compassion in favour of past grievances, she relinquished her power over her present and future actions. By accepting the past in favour of the present, she reacted in a manner that was supposedly alien to her natural character.

Often a parent is horrified to hear themselves criticising their offspring using the same admonitions they experienced so humiliatingly as a child. Many a rising executive gaining a higher position may employ criticism previously applied to his own efforts during his time as a subordinate. Both have accepted past experiences over the present. Both may unconsciously prompted, through their conditioned thinking, by the misconception that the best support is through what is termed ‘constructive criticism’. Experiencing the present moment, however, involves growing from the past, not imitating it. Feeling nervous, cynical or hard done by, for example, is caused by permitting past experiences to impose themselves upon the present moment. Yet the claim of the past upon the present is invalid. Living in the Moment

June 20, 2008

When our life is supremely concentrated in the present, there is no need to worry about what has been, or be fearful about what may be. With the focus of attention on results, the influence over process becomes weak. Systems break down and energy is then directed towards damage limitation through defence and blame. Read the rest of this entry »

Trusting in the Moment

June 20, 2008

By distrusting people we perhaps avoid a little loss, but the distrust that we sow in our hearts is a greater loss still. Only trustworthiness begets trust. Even when it does not, it still wins. In a materially driven world, in which a postage stamp is valued more than a word of honour because the stamp is sure, the argument is clear: ‘Of course I would like to trust people, but people are not worthy of trust.’ Although trusting others will inevitably mean that you must be ready to undergo loss, it is important not to look at the world this way.

It is not foolish to trust another, rather it is the wise person who trusts more than the foolish one. It is a greater strength to trust, for one who has less trust is weak and every day becomes weaker. One who does not trust others will find it difficult to trust even their own family and friends, and this distrust can develop to such an extent that they do not trust themselves. This is indeed sad, for the absence of self-trust is the basis of insecurity and lack of belief in one’s self. Read the rest of this entry »
